Obituary of Robert Lay Kong

Robert Lay Kong, 60, of Tinton Falls, NJ passed away at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born in New York, NY and moved to New Jersey 38 years ago.  Robert worked as a Network Security Engineer for AT&T in Middletown, NJ. Bob enjoyed skiing, golfing, shooting, flying, watching football, hosting the family Christmas parties, and he aspired to move to Florida where he would enjoy Disney during retirement years. He loved his wife and family and adored his daughter Ava.   

Robert is predeceased by his parents Lau Lay Kong and Yu Dih Kong and his brother James Kong. He is survived by his loving wife Kristi; daughter Ava Rose; siblings Mary Kong, Helen Kong, Paula and Serafin Ortega, Susan and Wayne Tripp; many nieces and nephews Jeff and Joanne Kong, Chris and Tammy Kong, Stacy and Michael Crowley, Jenna and Edward Sessa, Adam and Christina Ortega, Eric Ortega, Allison and Andy Abbott, Rachel Tripp; many grandnephews Andrew, Ethan, Winston, EJ, Theo, Adrian, Nico, Luca, Alex, Alden, and Avery and his dogs Coco and Crystal.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:00pm-8:00pm with a Funeral Service at 7:00pm at the Freeman Manalapan Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ  07726. A second visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 10:00am-11:00am also at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum in Holmdel, NJ.
