I never got to meet Bob in person as I'm in the UK, but I worked with him on many projects over the years. Bob was a colleague that you could always rely on to happily help you with any question or deliverable. He was kind and patient, always willing to take time to explain things to you. Despite ours always being a phone conversation, I could tell he was often smiling - he had a great sense of humour. Bob will be missed by so many at work. I send my deepest sympathy to his family - you are in my thoughts.

I am really shocked about Bob’s passing away. He was wonderful to work with and I worked with him on many NOC security projects, including the last one which was migrating old FW to the new one. So young and energetic, I cannot believe he’s no more. May god bless his soul and help family and friends overcome his loss.

I was shocked to learn about Bob Kong's passing. My deepest condolences to the family for their loss.
Bob and I worked very closely together on security issues while I was at Cisco. He provided crucial guidance on all aspects of network security. Bob's expertise in this area was deep and wide but he had a unique ability to explain complex topics in a clear way.
But most of all he was a fun person to be with and full of life.
You will be missed, Bob

I remember when I first joined the company as a newbie and visited NJ for the very first time. Bob immediately started a very passionate discussion about networking and system engineering, during which he provided me with numerous recommendations and unforgettable advice and was very impressed by his knowledge. It was always a pleasure to work with him on numerous projects since that day. Bob was a great colleague.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Robert?
A: I worked closely with Bob while working on a critical regulatory project. Very quickly learnt to rely on his technical expertise and ability to problem solve.
If there was an issue, we knew we could call on Bob and he would come up with a innovative idea.
Bob's humor and fun loving personality will be greatly missed.

There are no words for that will adequately convey the impact of Bob leaving all of us too soon. In his professional life he touched many around the world via his kind mentoring, quick wit and amazing intellect. In his circle of friends and family his loss will be even more poignant - May we strive to follow the example he set in all the roles he filled.

Bob was a great collegue, he had deep expertise, but much more: humor, kindness, enthusiasm, he was always positive. He had interest in many areas. He was able to create an origami in few minutes, he was playing music. Working and discussing with him were really rewarding moments.

Bob was a great coworker, very knowledgeable and he could almost join in the middle of any conversation and by the end he would bring some knowledge to the table that no one else knew. From time to time, he would mention some of the trips and activities he did with his family, which was nice to see/hear that part of his life outside of work. His presence will be missed, my condolences to his family.

I met Bob for the first time when he interviewed me for the CSO job opening I applied for in Nov 2018. I was immediately impressed by his exceptional expertise, his passion for networking and technology, as well as his warm demeanor that helped put me at ease.
I had the pleasure to work with Bob on and off on various projects ever since I decided to join CSO a few days after that interview. I will never forget Bob, for his genuine kindness, his surprising patience (especially during my first years in the new role) in explaining me things although he was a busy, highly sought-after expert. I will always cherish the many fun moments we had as we were often teased each other, and the mind provoking discussions we had about the most interesting topics and technologies new or old.
Bob was a true and most respected technical leader, a role model for many of us, and also a fun friend at the same time. He will be hugely missed by so many of us.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
