Obituary of Joseph Orlovsky

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Orlovsky, 80, of Manalapan, who died unexpectedly at home on June 16, 2023. 

Born in New York City on April 13, 1943, to John and Anna Orlovsky, Joe moved to New Jersey as a child and grew up in Clifton. He married Susan Susidko in 1971, and the couple relocated to Manalapan in 1979, where he resided until his death. 

Affable and outgoing, Joe never knew a stranger. Actually, he knew lots of strangers - because he would talk to everyone, whether they wanted to or not! He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1961-1965; a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University; and a dedicated salesman for Bell Container Corporation, Newark, for more than 40 years, until his retirement in 2015. 

Joe was a fixture on the sidelines of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and in recent years, he was frequently seen walking his precious pup Whiskey in his longtime neighborhood, chatting daily with all the regular dog parents and their pets. 

Joe loved to travel and instilled that love in his family, who have many cherished memories of family vacations, including a recent cruise to Bermuda to celebrate his 80th birthday. He was funny, outgoing, upbeat and always greeted people with a smile, a joke or an off-the-wall question. He was loved by all, and his big presence will be dearly missed by many. 

Joe was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Ann Marie Jordan; and brother, Richie Orlovsky. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Susan; his daughter, Christina Orlovsky, of San Diego, California; son Daniel Orlovsky, of Freehold, and his wife, Cari; three cherished granddaughters, Harper, Mila, and Aria; and six honorary grandchildren, who will truly miss their “Grandpa Joe.”
