My favorite memories are going to lunch at the Pantry Diner with my parents and Mr. Orlovsky. It felt like such a treat.
I remember my dad and Mr. Orlovsky talking about sitting in front of the diner at the bus stop and watching the world go by.
This friendship lead to my family spending Christmas with the Orlavsky family. It was wonderful and so much fun.
He is will be missed by all of us Popats.

We have known the Orlovsky Family for 50 years. My father, Subodh aka Stan, met Joe at work. Joe was the sales rep that came to Shore Plastic and Stan was in charge of handling the account. The two became best friends and continued to meet every Thursday for the next 35+ years.
The first time they met outside of the office, Stan invited Joe to join him for lunch at his home in Baldwin. Joe had already picked up his lunch, but Stan insisted he come and eat with him and wife, Aruna, before heading back to work. Joe arrived with a bag from McDonald's, rang the bell, and Stan answered. Stan looked at the bag and kindly told Joe "you can't eat that in my house." Joe laughing and thinking this was a joke commented on how his lunch may not be the healthiest, but was what he had picked up in his rush. Stan then explained that their home is a Hindu vegetarian house and they do not permit meat in the house. Joe continued to laughed thinking Stan was kidding, but he was not. He kindly suggested that Joe eat his burger in his car and then join him and Aruna for cake and coffee afterwards. He did so and they shared a fun afternoon laughing about it. After that encounter the two men opted to meet at The Pantry Diner in Rockville Centre where Joe could enjoy his burger.
For decades to follow, the three, along with Susan, laughed about this first encounter and continued to share this story at holidays, birthdays, and celebrations. We miss you Uncle Joe. Your kindness, laughter, and hilarious stories will be the memories we will wrap ourselves in when the world feels a little cold. Thank you for being our friend.
