Obituary of Alessandro Busala

Alessandro Busala, 98, of Freehold Twp., affectionately known as Alex, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Applewood Estates in Freehold Township.  He was born in Rome, Italy and came to the USA in 1948 for an M.I.T. summer program. In 1951, he married the love of his life Dorothy. Alex retired from Bell Laboratories, Inc in Holmdel where he received several patents for the touchtone phone, speaker phone, and video phone. He was a pilot, artist, magician, he loved dancing and bowling and was an avid sportsmen, biker, skier, hiker, swimmer, and mountaineer. He traveled the world and was known for his incredible patience, brilliance and devotion to his family and was adored by everyone he met.

Alex was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy in 2011 and his son, Joseph in 1985.  He is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nina Roth Cordes and Albert of Fayetteville, NC; Christina Freeman of Marlboro, NJ and Sandra and Douglas Freeman of Colts Neck, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Janine Busala of Lincoln University, PA; seven grandchildren, Adam, Chrissy, Alex, Natalie, Daniel, Gianna and Chiara; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ariana, Giuseppe, Abigail.

A visitation will be on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold, NJ  07728 with a funeral service on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:00am at the funeral home.   Interment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery in Marlboro.  In keeping with CDC Guidelines, masks and social distancing are required.  To find directions or leave a message of condolence, please visit our website at www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
