Obituary of Estelle Shirley Garry

Estelle Shirley Garry - known to all as Torchy - 87, of Freehold, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born and raised in Newark, she resided in Old Bridge and West Simsbury, CT before moving to Freehold in 1974. Torchy was the Freehold Township Vital Statistics Registrar for over 25 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Temple Shaari Emeth, Manalapan, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, knitting and reading. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert (Bob); her three children and their spouses, Diane and Barton Lechner, Steven Garry, and Bruce and Elise Garry; her sister, Ina Zimmerman; and four grandchildren, Adam, Spencer, Skylar and Shane. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews as well as all of the children who "adopted" her as Grandma Torchy. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 24, at 12:00 p.m. at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin.
