My sincere condolences to Alison, Laura, Ryan and all your family. Nancy was a wonderful, caring woman I often prayed with at St Gabriel’s Masses, rosary recitation and Bible study. We shared a special Parish Pilgrimage to Medjugorje April 1990. May your dear Mom rest in God’s peace. I remember In Medjugorje we were told most souls were admitted to heaven Christmas Day, but I’m sure Nancy’s there now.

Nancy Smith was one of the nicest, kindest, sweetest people I have ever known.
Years ago, there was a group of us who attended daily Mass at St. Gabriel's Church in Marlboro, N.J. There were about nine or ten of us. After Mass, we used to go to the "famous" coffee shop in Marlboro called "The Kubbard." "The Kubbard" was the original home for our Koffee Klatch at that time. Nancy used to bring Ryan to Mass every day and he, too, joined us for breakfast. The Kubbard was the "Cheers" of Marlboro where everyone knew your name. It was a greasy spoon, but we didn't go there for the food. We enjoyed the company.
Nancy will be missed by so many as she was a delightful person to be with. She led such an interesting life. I loved hearing her stories about all of her travels. Nancy was so intelligent and so academic but very humble about her accomplishments. She had a very strong faith and was so devoted to Our Blessed Mother.
Years ago, my son taught Bible School with Nancy and has such fond memories of her. He said that she was so nice to work with and just a lovely person.
I have no doubt that she is resting in peace.

“Do you want to go for coffee?” With those words, pronounced by Nancy a few times a week for many years after St. Gabriel’s weekday Mass, was born the St Gabriel’s Post-Mass Koffee-Klatch. Yes, our beautiful friend Nancy was the founder of the Koffee-Klatch which continues to this day at Bagel Talk, our favorite local bagel joint. That group has grown from 3 or 4 people in the early days to, at times, 10 to 12 people today.
But Nancy often reached out to invite us places, whether it be to her house for a delightful and elegant brunch featuring her homemade muffins, quiche, and fresh fruit-salad followed by a slide-show of her latest travel adventure, or to a local concert or event that she had learned about in her tireless pursuit of cultural stimulation.
Nance, you enriched our lives in so many ways. A piece of us left this earthly realm with you on this day, December 17, 2024. Through the mercy of the God you fervently believed in, may you rest in peace along with the souls of the sisters who preceded you as well as those of your beloved parents.
