Obituary of Richard Stanley Joseph Bulvid
Richard Stanley Joseph Bulvid, 77, of Hightstown, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Jersey Shore Medical Center after a courageous battle. Richard was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and moved to Hightstown 18 years ago. While proudly serving his country in the US Army he obtained many medals including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Air Medal and various other achievements. Richard went on to become a US Coast Guard Ship Master for the U.S. Corps of Engineers N.Y. District and retired after 40 years of service. During those years and into retirement, Richard went on to receive numerous awards for his exceptional performance of duties supporting relief efforts in the wake of the terrorist attack on 9/11 and on overseas deployments to support response and recovery efforts in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. Richard spent his retirement years working with the USACE and FEMA responding to disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Ian, Joplin Tornado and other disaster sites.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Mary Bulvid and his brother Bobby Bulvid. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela Zuczek; step-daughter Toni Stanley (John); cousin Joseph Crotty (Theresa) and grandchildren Alexandria & John Michael Stanley.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 19th, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A funeral service will be held at the Freeman Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7:30 PM. A private family service and interment will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:30 AM.
