Obituary of Friedrich Seitz

Please share a memory of Friedrich to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

SGM (RET.) Friedrich Seitz died suddenly on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in Freehold, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elisabeth; his daughters and sons-in-law Caroline and David Incorvaia and Nancy and Juergen Drees; his grandchildren, Thomas Incorvaia and his wife Alice, Kristen Incorvaia, Sarah Incorvaia, Miranda Drees and Thomas Drees; his sister, Rosemarie Seitz, Germany, and step siblings as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was born in Wyk auf Foehr, an Island in the North Sea which always held a special place in his heart. He left Germany when he was 16 to come to America for a better life. When he was 19 years old, a buddy of his suggested that they join the Army and they signed up at the recruiting station in Times Square, NY. Although his friend left the Army, Fred spent the next 30 years serving the country that he so loved, including two tours in Vietnam as well as tours in Korea, Germany and Iran. Upon his retirement he and Elisabeth were finally able to build their dream home. Fred had a short second career working for the NJ Department of Agriculture. For the past 38 years he and Elisabeth have enjoyed traveling not only in the United States but in Europe and Canada as well. They made many winter trips to Hawaii for several weeks and after their first cruise, were planning on making that their new way to travel. He loved spending time with his family and working in his yard…always saying that “next year” he would get a landscaper to maintain his 1- and 1/4-acre lot and do any snow shoveling.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, October 20th from 1:00PM to 4:30PM at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A funeral service will be held at Freeman Funeral Home on Sunday at 4:30PM. To leave a message of condolence or find directions, please visit our website at www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.

Fred was survivor of a quadruple bypass, a fall from a tree which resulted in a broken back (his first broken bones ever), and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, so we ask that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to The American Heart Association, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice.
