Obituary of Arthur Lawrence

Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arthur Lawrence, 85, of Morganville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.  He was born in Paterson, New Jersey in 1939 and moved to Morganville 46 years ago. Art graduated from Marietta College in 1961. He then entered the Army and served honorably during the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1961 to October of 1962. He was then in the USAR until 1967.

Art & Dorothy were married on October 9, 1966. Art earned his MBA degree from Pace University and worked as a Product Manager for several large Pharmaceutical Companies. Art’s second career became his “Pride and Joy” as a manager of the Marlboro Swim Club. He held that position from 1987-2007 when he retired. After retiring Arthur and Dorothy loved to travel all over the United States and Europe. Hawaii was a favorite trip for both. Art was a dedicated Grandpa and enjoyed trips to watch his grandchildren play sports. They also enjoyed running on the boardwalk in Avon and Belmar and continued through their later years. Art will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arthur was predeceased by his parents Morris and Ida Leckowitz and sister Gail Cohen.  He is survived by his loving spouse Dorothy Lawrence; sons Daniel Lawrence (Janet) Matthew Lawrence (Mireille) and grandchildren Violet Lawrence, Erica Lawrence and Gianna Lawrence, Dylan Lawrence.
