Obituary of Fred Russell Ashman jr

Frederick Russell Ashman Jr., 68, of Sedona, AZ suddenly passed away on April 4, 2015 at home with his loving wife Jeanne by his side. Born in New Brunswick, he grew up in Piscataway where he cherished playing football and wrestling in his HS years. He was a graduate of Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia and lived in Old Bridge for almost 30 years before making the move to the beautiful Red Rock mountains of Sedona, AZ two years ago. Fred was an executive sales representative of Union Carbide for many years and owned a successful building company in his earlier years in Connecticut allowing him to retire at the early age of 53. He was a longtime member of Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Twp. where he enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his special group of buddies. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred Sr. and Louise Ashman. He is survived by his wife, the former Jeanne Dempsey originally of Manalapan; his brother-in-laws Bill Dempsey and his wife Sylvia and family and Mark Dempsey and Michelle Kosta Becker; and many aunts and cousins whom he loved greatly. Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, April 12, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Monday at 10:00 a.m. for the funeral service at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to American Heart Association.
