Kenny Collins posted a condolence

To the family of Kenny Mount – Kenny was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever known in my life. He was a true friend and became like a big brother to me. He was one of the best police officers Freehold Borough ever had and that I had the privilege of working with on the force. Kenny and I worked on the same platoon together when we both got on the force in 1970. He got on shortly before I did. The borough was in troubled times back in the 70’s. I saw Kenny in many life-threatening situations and nothing ever rattled him. Our personalities were the complete opposite. Kenny took things slowly and did it his way. I, on the other hand, was too quick to react and Kenny knew how to slow me down. We worked together on the same platoon for many years. One night we were working 8 p.m. – 4 a.m. It was 1 a.m. and we were standing on Court Street underneath the clock on foot patrol. That’s when Kenny told me that Lt. Hibbs had asked him to go into the Detective Bureau with Detective Clark. That was one of the worst days on the job for me. It meant Kenny and I wouldn’t be answering calls together anymore. It was never the same for me once he left our platoon. A few years later I was asked to go into the Bureau with the guys. While it would have been great to work with Kenny, Gary and Tony LeMoine again, I decided I wanted to stay on the streets. Kenny and I also worked together organizing many PBA Ball functions at Freehold Raceway. The ball gave the community, business owners and the police department the opportunity to come together in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. It was a huge success for many, many years. Freehold Borough Police Department was fortunate to have Kenny on the force for so many years. The people of Freehold Borough were blessed to have someone as kind and considerate as Kenny serving them. Kenny’s love for dedicating his life to the good of the public was passed on to his sons and soon his daughter. My love, respect, sorrow and prayers go out to Kenny’s family whom he loved so much. Rest In Peace brother. Love ya man. Kenny Collins
