Obituary of Magdalena R Saldua

Please share a memory of Magdalena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Magdalena R. Saldua, 73, of Parlin, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Excel Care in NJ with her children and grandchildren by her side. Magdalena was born in the Philippines on July 22, 1950 and moved to the United States 27 years ago.  She spent her younger years in the Philippines as a teacher and a banker.  She built a huge circle of friends (from grade school to college, Rotary Club, Luzonion/Enverga University and Land Bank) decades of friendships which literally lasted a lifetime.  She was an avid bowler and had won numerous championships and trophies.  After moving to New Jersey, she worked in New York City in the jewelry business.  On the weekends, she enjoyed road trips with her husband and in-laws visiting friends, churches, pilgrimages and even at times trying their luck in Atlantic City.

In her later years, she reconnected with her friends from the Philippines and had a weekly meet-up, which then they named Panera Group and spent countless of hours chatting, reminiscing, and laughing.  She thoroughly enjoyed playing word games whether it was Scrabble or Words with Friends: if you played against her, you would get frustrated as she would always bust out those +50s point words!

She always enjoyed gatherings and loved to be in a house full of people just talking and laughing.  From the first time meeting her, she would have greeted you with the sweetest smile and biggest hug.  She made sure everyone was having a great time, feeling at home.  She ensured that everyone was well fed by her famous delicious dishes that she cooked with love. No one will ever leave the house with an empty stomach but would for sure leave with a heart filled with love.

Upon meeting her, you would already have gained a friend, extended mother / grandmother - your family just got bigger!

Her most favorite was to spend time with her beloved family.  She loved being surrounded with them whether it's in the living room, back yard or going on vacation! She loved to attend her grandchildren's activities and she was their biggest fan and loudest cheerleader!  Most of all, she had devoted her life loving and giving to her children.  There was nothing not possible, she always had made it happen for the love of her children.

Magdalena was predeceased by her husband Vivencio and parents, Leoncio Remendo and Corazon Balanaa.  She is survived by her sons Gerard Victor Saldua, Giovanni Paolo Saldua; daughters Genalin Carmela Toledo and husband Leoncio Toledo; Gianna Mylen Obach and husband, Oliver Obach; Graciela Madelaine Price and husband, Jason Price; sisters Anita Remendo and Lourdes Remendo and grandchildren Michael Oliver Obach, Gianna Paula Deduyo Saldua, Derek James Price, Marc Jason Price, Jericho Miguel Toledo, Jose Luis Martinez and Stephen Saldua.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, June 23rd, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral liturgy will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Monday at 10:30 AM.
