Obituary of Ronald Gajewski

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ronald Gajewski. He was a devoted husband, father, and Pop-Pop who brought joy and love into the lives of all who knew him. Ron passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Centra State Medical Center. Ronald was born in Bayonne, New Jersey. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969 and was employed as a Logistics Supervisor for Sysco.

Ronald was predeceased by his parents Charles and Stella Gajewski; and sister Dolores Chmielewski. He is survived by his wife Christina Gajewski (nee Pavlick); daughters Denise Branchizio (Salvatore), Jennifer Christ (Andrew) and granddaughters Lauren, Gabrielle, Lindsey, Nina and Emily and his cherished nieces and nephews.

Ron had a deep passion for sports, particularly the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He followed their games with unwavering enthusiasm and cheered on his favorite teams with great pride. His love for sports was infectious, and he passed down his passion to his children and granddaughters. Whether it was watching games together or discussing the latest sports news, those moments were always filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Above all, Ron cherished his family. His love for his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and granddaughters, knew no bounds. He was their biggest supporter, always there to offer guidance whether solicited or unsolicited, encouragement, and especially his unconditional love. He created countless cherished memories with his family, from family vacations in the Bahamas to day trips to Tannersville to making Christmas cookies and attending every special event and sports game. He had a unique way of making everyone feel seen and loved, and his family will forever carry his love in their hearts.

Ron was not only passionate about sports and family, but he also had a kind and generous spirit. He was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand and his ability to make others feel welcome and valued. He touched the lives of many, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We would like to thank the incredible team of nurses and doctors at Penn Medicine, especially Dr. Kerri Akaya Smith. Her dedication, clinical expertise, compassion, empathy, and tireless efforts gave him so much extra time to share with those he loved. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had her as his doctor and we are forever grateful from the bottom of our hearts.

As we say goodbye to our beloved husband, Dad, and Pop-Pop, let us remember the laughter, the love, and the joy he brought into our lives. May his memory be a guiding light, reminding us to live each day with the same passion, love, and kindness that he demonstrated throughout his life.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, April 21^st, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold.

A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church at 12:00 PM on Monday, April 22^nd. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
