Obituary of Michael J. Colonna

Michael J. Colonna, 92, resident of Monmouth Crossing, Freehold passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Molfetta Bari, Italy, he was a master sculptor and a true artist who loved his work till his last breath, loved his family equally, as well as the opera. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a communicant of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manalapan. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen in 1975; siblings, Frank and Jacqueline; and loving former daughter-in-law, Trudy. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Vincent and Audrey, Frank and Mary, Claire and Thomas Grimaldi and Michael and Donna; 10 grandchildren, Lauren (Rick), Michael (Erin), Kevin (Beth), Tina (Jim), Nicole, Michelle (Todd), Michael (Donna), Deborah, Kimberly (John) and Christine; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Frances Colonna; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 22, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, NY.
