Obituary of Margaret Palma DeSimone

Margaret De Simone left this earth February 8, 2024 to return to her permanent home in heaven. She leaves behind her loving sister, Elizabeth De Simone, and younger brother, Frank De Simone. She is predeceased by her loving parents, Andrew, and mother Josephine (nee Gagliardo),her beloved brothers Domenick, and Joseph. In addition, she leaves behind nieces and nephews who adored her, and great nieces and nephews. Each one of her nieces and nephews have memories and stories that they will keep in their hearts forever.

Margaret got her start in Brooklyn before moving to New Jersey 17 years ago. She was so many things to so many people, but the common thread being “love” as she was loved by all that knew her.

Marge leaves behind a legacy of delight in terms of her 95 years on earth. She lived a full successful life that was filled with adventure. She and her sister were world travelers at a time when very few women traveled. She also was an accomplished actress, starring in many popular plays in the 60’s,a singer and dancer and as if that weren’t enough of talent – a gifted writer, with a brilliant and keen sense of wit. She worked many years in Brooklyn Law School, and was highly valued and a key component to the overall operations. She was regarded as an exemplary employee worthy of respect, and recognition.

A stunning and beautiful red-headed woman that made heads turn when she entered the room. More than her beauty was her vivacious personality, that would keep people enthralled. Ever the actress, we did many skits together around the family table, with Margaret writing the scripts, and setting up the scene for us to follow. She then directed the videos. It was memorable and a blessing for us all.

She loved the New York Mets, originally a Brookly Dodger fan. But the Mets became as she called it “the bane of my existence, every year I hope and hope for a win.”  She loved doing the New York Times Crossword puzzle that she filled out in minutes, and recently completed one last week. One of her favorite shows was Jeopardy, and was a fan of mystery novels, her favorite author of all time was Sue Grafton. She has a collection of books that could fill a museum, an avid reader right up to the end of her days. She and her sister were quite the team, and enjoyed a pleasant life, and stream of entertainment and activities that most people half their age couldn’t keep up with. Loving Sisters until the end, caring for each other, fully and completely.  One day will be reunited where they will never have to say goodbye again.

She will be remembered for her smile and laughing, and how tenderly she attended to her family. She was an amazing confidant to so many. She offered sage advice to many. She will be missed forever, and we know she is reunited with her beloved family members, catching up on all events. I’m sure right now she’s laughing and entertaining everyone in her presence. We will see you again, until then know that your whole family will love you forever.
