Obituary of Maria P. Stavrinou

Maria P. Stavrinou (nee Theodoulou), 82, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born September 27, 1932 in Oroklini, Cyprus, Maria came to New Jersey in 1967 with her husband and six children. She was a loving, hardworking wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who truly lived the American Dream. She worked as a highly skilled seamstress for over 60 years. However her legacy is best seen in the family she leaves behind.
Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Panayis, 90; her children, Vasilis and Eva Stavrinou of Lakehurst, Stephanie and Vasilis Kerzelis of Freehold; Dora & Tasos Michael of Ledgewood, Eleni and Elias Maragos of West Orange, Demetria & Pete Leventakis of Freehold, Foulla and Nick Pahountis of Lancaster, SC; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Theodoulou of Staten Island and her sister, Evgenia Nikolaou of Oroklini, Cyprus and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, March 18, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
