Obituary of Robert C. Gurney
Robert C. Gurney, 87, of Manchester, NJ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY passed away on January 11, 2024 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Robert was born in 1936 on the Lower East Side of New York City.
Robert served honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Known by all who knew and loved him as “Bob”, he was an extremely hard worker who loved his family, his job, co-workers and friends. If it were up to him, he would have worked forever. He was a great provider and was always eager to help a friend or family member in need. Bob had a soft spot for animals and was known to feed stray cats and dogs that wandered into his path. He loved all of the family dogs, there were many! All could be sure to get premium scraps from the table when Poppy was around. One of Bob’s hobbies and happy place was being in Atlantic City, NJ and Pompano Beach, his Florida home and paradise. He loved the water and the sun; he and Alberta spent many enjoyable years there and made lasting memories.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Virgil and Virginia Gurney; brothers William, Joseph and John and sister Antoinette. He is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years, Alberta, known as “Jean” to all of her friends and his two cherished daughters Debra and Dawn and all of his loving grandchildren Robert, James, Brendan, Robert, Kristen and Zachary, they will miss him dearly.
