Obituary of Philomena Scantlebury

Philomena Scantlebury, 97, of Manalapan, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at home.  Philomena was born in St. Lucia and then settled in the United States in 1974.  She could often be found singing hymns and reciting psalms, and she loved to keep up with world events including politics.

Philomena was predeceased by her parents, Cornelle and Josephine; husband, Reynold Scantlebury; and grandsons Christopher Scantlebury and Marcellus Lee.  She is survived by her daughter Mary (Marcia) Lee, son, Thomas Scantlebury; grandchildren Simon, Carnice, Myrna, Dwayne, Daniel, Donald, and Rohema; great-grandchildren Abigail, Aubrey, Brittany, Kianna, Andrew, Aaliyah, Logan, Lillian and Della-Kriss. She is also mourned by numerous cousins and many other children that she cared for during her lifetime including Felicia, David, Scholastica, Monica, Evans, and Shanita, just to name a few.                                      

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, November 10^th from 8:30 AM to 10:30AM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 11:00 AM.
