Family has always been very important to Aunt Jessie, she wrote often in emails and cards about how she was glad that I and the rest of the family in California had stayed in touch with her. If we lived closer we would have had more chances to see her more often. I'm glad she and I had been able to become more close in the last decade. She always wrote that she wanted to come out to visit, I'm happy she got a few chances to!
The last time I saw Aunt Jessie was for Noah and Meghan's wedding. It was great to spend a good amount of time with her and I'm happy to have hugged her and told her that I loved her in person. She is greatly missed.
I had the honor not only of teaching with Jessica, but of being her friend. After retirement, we would both hobble to a restaurant and order our lunch. Jessica typically began the conversation and I was able to occasionally interject a few words. I will miss her, her friendship, her intellect, and most of all her stories, of which she had many.
