Obituary of Sheila Marie Pickell

OBITUARY             

Sheila M. Pickell, 75, of Toms River, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River.  Sheila was born in Freehold, New Jersey to Howard and Sarah Thompson (McCarthy) on August 13, 1947.

After graduating from Freehold Boro High School in 1965, Sheila attended Ocean County College where she completed nursing school.  She had a 40-year career in the nursing profession where she spent her early years in obstetrics.  However, the majority of her career in the mental health field.  She worked for St. Barnabas Behavioral Health for 30 years. 

Sheila, in no particular order, enjoyed the following: Springsteen, Hugh Jackman, Tom Jones, Graham Norton, Stephen Colbert and reading a good biography.  She also enjoyed sunny days and low tide at the Sea Watch beach in Manasquan and just about any creature with four legs.  Horses and Poodles were her favorites.

Surviving this beautiful human are the following:  her son Lee and companion Joann Tomaszweski.  Her sister, Carol Hadley of Freehold, NJ.  granddaughter: Lilyann Sarah Pickell.  Nephews, Scott Hadley (Dee) of Freehold, NJ; David Hadley (Josette) of Florida, Randall Hadley (Pam) of Marlboro, and Michael Hadley (Theresa) of Pennsauken. 

Sheila was predeceased by her parents; Howard and Sarah Thompson and her nephew Daniel Keith Hadley.
