i only got to know Lee when he sold his boat Mandy to me. His spirit will live on for many years to come. I think one of the things he liked about my buying the boat was knowing it was going to another KYC member and a person who would use the boat and care for it as well as he did. i look forward to many years of sailing and keeping the spirit of him alive on the water.
thanks
David Martin

Josephine and I would like to send our deepest condolences to Lee's wife Manda and the DiRubbo family.
Lee was the first person we met at KYC, as we set out to join the club with some trepidation back in 2009. Lee won us over instantly, with his warm, welcoming personality, and we could have chatted with him all evening there in the fireplace room. We always looked forward to catching up with Lee and Manda at KYC events.
Lee will be sorely missed, and will always have a place in our hearts. RIP Lee!

The Lee I knew was a pleasure to be around. He was funny, interesting, and had a manner that seemed both relaxed and engaged at the same time. Above all, he was warm and kind, and I feel lucky to have spent so many special occasions around him.
My thoughts and love to all who knew and cared for Lee, and especially to the DiRubbo family, about whom I can say all these same things.

Daren and Maggy Stotler posted a condolence

We have been blessed to be a part of Lee's family since the engagement
of his son, Livio, to Maggy's niece and godchild, Justine. The lively
engagement party Lee and Manda hosted at the yacht club set the tone
for many of our interactions with him since then. That evening was
only outdone by Livio and Justine's wedding held at the club a few years
later.
Lee was a wonderful cook and was quick to share his recipes; his
descriptions always made them sound so simple. The highlight of the
year was always the Christmas Eve seafood dinner. Livio would help
him prepare the clams casino, and Mandy would work with him on the
fried calamari. And then there was the shrimp and the lobster. He
always had to have espresso after dinner, usually with more than a
dash of sambuca.
Lee would also frequently bring out his homemade limoncello, lovingly
crafted from his family's recipe. Store bought versions don't compare
with this, even from shops in Rome (Daren warned the shopkeeper that
their limoncello would be disappointing). Lee graciously shared his
recipe with us, and we will remember him every time we uncork a
bottle.
He was also a great family man and together with Manda has raised two wonderful
children. One clear example of his fatherly devotion was his support of Livio
throughout his wrestling career, taking him to countless matches and
helping him through the occasional tough times.
Lee's love of boating and the Navy was clear whenever you visited
their home. And it was frequently the source of truly interesting
conversation, such as a vivid description of how long it takes to turn
an aircraft carrier.
Finally, we want to express our deepest condolences to Lee's family on
their loss. His passing has certainly left a big hole in our hearts and lives.

Sandi & I send our sincere condolences to the Di Rubbo family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. RIP Commodore Di Rubbo, you will always be remembered, always be missed and always be loved by many.
May Lee's family & friends find solace in this poem:
THE SHIP OF LIFE
by John T. Baker
Along the shore I spy a ship
As she sets out to sea;
She spreads her sails and sniffs the breeze
And slips away from me.
I watch her fading image shrink,
As she moves on and on,
Until at last she's but a speck,
Then someone says, "She's gone."
Gone where? Gone only from our sight
And from our farewell cries;
That ship will somewhere reappear
To other eager eyes.
Beyond the dim horizon's rim
Resound the welcome drums,
And while we're crying, "There she goes!"
They're shouting, "Here she comes!"
We're built to cruise for but a while
Upon this trackless sea
Until one day we sail away
Into infinity.

Lee was one of my favorite people, and I’ll always cherish this photo. We were at the Commodore’s Dinner Dance at the club back in - I think - 2015, and he asked me to dance. The fact that I’m a head taller than him made no difference to him, and we had a fun twirl and a great little chat. No matter what was going on, he always made time to come over and say hello and see how things were going. He was a real gentleman. I’ll miss him a lot.
