Obituary of Rose C DiFilippi
Rose C. DiFilippi, 94, of Manalapan, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at CentraState Medical Center.
Rose was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Freehold for over 20 years and Manalapan for three years.
Rose is survived by her daughter Lorraine and her husband George; daughter Joan; grandchildren Laura, Natalie and George; and great grandchildren Robert, Gianna, Ava, David and Lumi.
Rose was ahead of her time as the head of her household raising her two daughters and was a career woman at a time when it was not fashionable. She had a lot of faith in her Patron Saint Jude. She often joked he was perfect for us as the Patron Saint of “lost causes” and she regularly donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Rose was often colorful with her choice of language, never hesitated to share an opinion, would often give us money “just in case” and always made sure you had something to eat. She took care of the people around her in a way that was uniquely hers.
Rose was an avid reader and her favorite author was Mary Higgins Clark, she loved listening to the music of Jerry Vale, Frank Sinatra and Andrea Bocelli. She also had a never-ending supply of word puzzles to keep her busy. And, last but not least, watching her beloved Yankees on t.v. and attending games in person.
Rose enjoyed going to Atlantic City and playing the slot machines. When it comes to food, she loved her seafood. To her life was a “Seafood Buffet” especially soft shell crabs and Prince Edward Island mussels. In the summer, she couldn’t wait to eat sauteed zucchini flowers.
Her passion was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, June26th, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan.
