Obituary of MaryEllen Wirin
MaryEllen Wirin passed away on May 3rd 2022 of natural causes. She was born and grew up in Gloversville, NY and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing and went on to a long, successful and fulfilling career as a pediatric RN - having just retired only a few years ago.
MaryEllen - or “ME” or “MEW” - her preferred nicknames - was a voracious reader (known to sometimes spend an entire Sunday devouring the New York Times cover to cover), loved to send “alternative mail” to friends and family (remember the highlighted and notated newspaper clippings?? ) and was a frequent volunteer as a CCD Teacher and Opera usher. She enjoyed and supported all local theatre especially Cabaret for Life and the NJ Symphony.
ME also cherished conversations, voicemails and visits with her 3 loving grandsons. Lilacs were her favorite flower and ME always enjoyed her coffee (morning, noon and night!).
MaryEllen was predeceased by her parents Michael Dooris and Alice Unger and was an only child. She is survived by Richard her husband of 55 years and their two sons - R. Michael and David, his wife Kara and their 3 sons Gregory, Ryan and Luke.
Please join us to remember and celebrate ME’s wonderful life at the Memorial Funeral Mass on Thursday May 12th, 2022 at 11:00am at Old St Gabriel’s Church on Rte 520 in Marlboro.
