Obituary of Lois Hinds

Lois A. Hinds, (née-Schicke), age 81 of Manalapan, NJ passed away on Sunday, March 20th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born in Jersey City and was raised in Lake Parsippany. She was a graduate of Boonton High School. After high school Lois worked for Pfizer Inc., where she met the love of her life George, to whom she married in 1967. After moving to Manalapan in 1974, they were the owners of Yorktowne Texaco/Shell. While she was always seen around town at school functions, her children’s endless sports game, church events, or even pumping gas, her favorite time was spent in Seaside tanning on the beach and entertaining her family and friends with her famous Sunday barbeques. Lois was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church and dedicated her life to Social Ministry, not only through her church but in the town of Manalapan and beyond. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Lois lived her life with a strong love of family, friends, faith, and community. She always had an abundance of smiles, amazing grace, and endless patience.

Lois was predeceased by her loving husband George, her parents Elsie and William, and her brother Bill. Although she was a Mom to all, Lois is survived by her five children, George and daughter-in-law Danielle, Stacey, Melissa, Michele and Matthew. She is also survived by her sister in law Violet, her brother Robert, and her treasured nieces and nephews. Lois is survived by the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Matthew, Kylie, Scotty, Carly, Haylie, Georgie, Sean, Christian, Caitlin and Cassandra.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, March 28th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral service will be held at funeral home on Tuesday, March 29th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Samaritan Center, PO Box 218 Tennent, NJ 07763-0218 an organization which she helped found, or any charity of your choice.
