I woke up this morning and happened to mention a story about a very old and dear friend to my husband.I decided to see if this friend was on Facebook— but instead I found an obituary. I am shocked and saddened. My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife Arlene and the children. Norman and I grew up together in East New York. He and his Aunt Rose lived on Vermont Street. We would look out the backs of our windows and wave. Everyone in the neighborhood knew and loved him. We became good friends. I remember taking many train trips to Trenton to visit his mom and sister. I remember how popular Norman was as a percussionist in his band the Shades of Black. He would get standing ovations for his conga solos. What a passionate player! My prayers are forever with you and your family. Rest In Peace.

To the family Our sincere condolences to you. Norman was a lovely person and always had a smile on his face. My husband met Norman doing what he enjoyed which was fishing and they immediately connected. Norman introduced us to his lovely wife and children and we became friends. May he Rest In Peace and you cherish all the wonderful moments. Mr & Mrs Robert Leaks, Jr.

While fishing the Reservoir I came upon a part of the shore line by the Environment Center and this brother was fishing and I daid "how's it going" and he politely said "it would be better if I was on that boot, couldn't get him off after that we became close fishing buddies and friend. My dad always said "there's no such thing as a strange, just a friend you haven't meet yet" I MET MY FRIEND THAT DAY IN JUNE 2002.
