Uncle Joe, that's what my sisters and I always called you although we were not blood related. No, we were heart-related and we loved each other unconditionally. From the moment I was born you were "all in". You changed diapers, played Santa, helped me to learn how to ride a bicycle and took me fishing. You never missed a family event , smiling proudly along with my Mom and Dad. One year you were even my 'date' for the Father/Daughter dance when my Dad came down with the flu.I will miss your smile, your laughter and the Sunday BBQ's with those thick steaks that you would 'special-buy' in Bay Ridge. I love you, Uncle Joe, forever!

I was saddened to hear the news of Joe passing. Joe...Uncle Joe as my sisters and I called him...was a huge part of our lives when we were children. My parents were such good friends with him so he was our family and always at our home. He visited just about every Sunday. We would have barbequed steaks, play board games, play outside (he was notorious for holding the ball way up in the air as we would try and jump to get it) we watched rented movies like ET and Jaws. He gave me fresh mozzarella for the first time from his favorite Italian Deli in Brooklyn. We ate shoestring licorice, chocolate chip cookies, and pistachios as we battled at board games and he wasn't easy to beat...he never let us win.....only one time I beat him at a game called Boggle. He was just as surprised as I was. He also loved a good game of Trivial Persuit with my parents. He loved the competition. He also brought a huge watermelon to every Fourth of July event at our house. He was there for every holiday. He got us our Christmas holiday dresses every year until we were too old to take the photos where your clothes matched with your siblings. He was there for every birthday, even roller skating. I remember waiting for him to arrive for all these things. We would sit on our stoop, and he would pull up to the house. He would be driving his old, old white car, which eventually gave out, and then he drove a big Bronco truck. He wore converse sneakers too. Most of all, I remember his laughter. It was infectious. He had a great sense of humor, always joking around, and when he laughed you did too. I have infinite memories of a man so loved by my family. His love for my family was unconditional too. He was a good man and I'm happy he was such a big a part of my childhood. We love you. You will be missed.

I will remember Joe as a good and loyal friend, always a gentleman and kind to everyone. I have great memories of how the Park Slope gang welcomed me when I moved back to Brooklyn and through the years since. You were loved by many and will be missed.

Joe, you were the best friend a person could ever have and I am sure it was God's plan that we be so. Why else would we both end up working in the same telephone company office only to later find out that you and my husband were childhood friends? Oh Joe, the adventures we had! The crazy lunchtime dashes to Chinatown, cemetery tours, and hanging out at Helen's apartment. Most notable, you insisting on going with Tom when Jillian had to have her eye surgery. You held her in your arms all the way home even though there was the possibility she would vomit. She didn't. Yes, through good times and bad you loved my family and in return were loved. I will miss you and I pray that you will rest in peace.

Joe, May you rest in peace..We met in St.Augustines Grammer school in the 3rd Grade and have been friends ever since. You became a part of my family, even being Godfather to two of my daughters. We are all so devastated by your sudden death. One day we will see each other and I will challenge you to a game of Cribbage....and I will have the right Jack
