We have been friends of Joe & Dona for close to 40 years and to know them, is to love them. Joe was so outgoing and a joy to be around. He is a man that once you meet him you would never forget him. We met Joe and Dona 20 years ago at the airport on our return trip from St. Maarten. Joe was an outgoing person. He made friends easily. We exchanged e-mail addresses and have been e-mail friends since. The Ruggiero family is in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead. Joe had a huge positive influence on many, many people and will be missed by many! Everyone loves Joe! I will never forget his kind and loving smile when living across the street from Joe and Dona. One of my fondest memories, and I can picture it like it happened yesterday, was when he knocked on my door with his rain slicker on. He had an extra slicker for me and we needed to install a compression, water turn off valve under the concrete basement floor of his home. A pipe had broke and was leaking under the foundation and there was no way to turn it off from the road. So Joe saw cut a square hole in the floor and with our rain slickers on, and a piece of plywood to keep the water away from our faces, we cut the leaking pipe and force on a compression fitting shut off valve. We were soaking wet but smiled through the whole event. I can see the true grit and determination on Joe’s face. I will also never forget him teaching me to play, I think the name of the game was, Bottchie Ball. I hit his ball and mine rested next to his. He put his foot on his ball and bashed his hard against mine and it went a sailing. And now Joe, sails in heaven with Jesus! Love you Joe and look forward to our next gathering in heaven and seeing that huge loving smile of yours! Thank you for making the world a much better place and having a positive influence in my life!!! RIP dear friend! Love Wendell
