Obituary of Norma Aragon Lopez
Norma Lopez, 88, of Freehold passed away on Wednesday December 9, 2020 at CentraState Hospital in Freehold, NJ. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Santo Thomas, Manila Philippines. In 1957 she moved to the United States and married Dr. Filemon Lopez. They established residency in Bronx, NY for 9 years while her husband worked for Montefiore, Albert Einstein and Bronx Lebanon hospitals. The family then moved to Freehold where she has resided for the last 50 years.
Norma was a devoted wife, a loving mother and adoring grandmother. Her heart knew no limits and she was generous to a fault. She had a passion for cooking and was best known for her egg rolls (lumpia). She enjoyed cards games, playing solitaire, mahjong and was an avid Jeopardy fan. She looked forever young and was the life of any party, not thinking twice to get on the dance floor.
She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Filemon Lopez in 1979. Norma is survived by her children Dr. Lorna Aguilos (Eric), Roland Lopez, Theresa Skievaski (Kevin), Dr. Christopher Lopez (Shannon), Ferdinand Lopez (Debra); sister Josefina Cardoza; grandchildren Richard (Amanda), Ryan (Daneale), Paola and Alexis Aguilos; Morgan (Jake), Madison and Alex Lopez; Nicole (Brian) and Zachary Manabat, Kevin Jr. Kyle, Corey, Casey and Sarah Skievaski; Nicholas and Colin Lopez; and Great-granddaughter Mackenzie Aguilos.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 14th at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold. In keeping with guidelines with the CDC, masks and social distancing are required. To join the services via zoom, please access the following link:
