Charles A. Canino, 89, of Marlboro passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at The Solana Assisted Living Facility in Marlboro, NJ. 

Charlie or Charlie Boy as his siblings affectionately referred to him was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Carlo Canino and Mary Santoro Canino. Charlie is predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosemary Dickson Canino, and is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Frank Longo of Manalapan; Florence and Joseph Asciolla of Morganville; four grandchildren, Jimmy and Liz Oliva, and Richard Oliva; Kristen and Jamie Kline and Brittany Asciolla; his great-granddaughter, Angelina Rose; predeceased by his three brothers, Nicholas, Frank and James Canino;  his two sisters, Frances Canino and Josephine Casano; and survived by his brother, Phillip Canino; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Marlboro, NJ for the past 33 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid Yankee and Giants fan, enjoyed playing bocce and pool and cheering his grandchildren on at their school sports events,

Charlie enjoyed a successful career in construction as a superintendent and was especially proud of the work he oversaw on projects such as the Hofstra University Library, Madison Square Garden Office Building and Harlem River Drive Housing Complex.  

A private Funeral Liturgy for immediate family members only will be celebrated on Friday, November 13, 2020 at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church in Marlboro.  Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum.   In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing are required.  All arrangements are under the direction of the Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ  07726.  To leave a message of condolence, please visit their website at www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
