Obituary of John Jacob Scheurer
John “Jack” Scheurer, of Freehold Township died on October 26, 2020. Born in Fort Lee, New Jersey to William and Ruth. He grew up in Fort Lee, NJ and was a 1962 graduate of Fort Lee High School. He was a resident of Freehold for 43 years.
After high school, John began his 35-year career as an electrician for the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, retiring as the supervisor of SEMAC (Special Electricians, Mechanics, and Carpenters). John was active in the Freehold Township Independent Fire Company #1 from 1978 to 2020 achieving the rank of Chief. John was also an active member on the Board of Commissioners for the Freehold Township Fire District #1and was a member of the Freehold Township Fire Bureau. Jack was active in fundraising and supporting the Sisters of Charity and Sisters of Mercy. He and his close friend, Ray Flood, were supporters for the Open-Door Homeless Pantry.
John was predeceased by his parents and loving wife, Paulette. He is survived by sister, Joan DiPalo; daughter Jennine and her husband, Ray Williams; sons John Scheurer; Nicholas and his wife, Toni Ann Scheurer; Scott and his wife, Lois Bohm; Christopher Bohm and partner, Gina LoCascio; Brian Bohm and his wife, Debbie Bohm; daughter- in-law Jill Bohm. He had five granddaughters and thirteen grandsons.
A private grave side service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020.
