Obituary of Helen Mazurek

Helen Mazurek, 98, of Marlboro, NJ entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020.  She was born November 7, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was a long-time employee of University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  Helen was the second born of four children to John and Mary Halchuck.  She had a zest for life being an active member of St. Gabriel’s Church.  She attended Marlboro Township Recreation Senior Center where she did an array of activities including exercise classes and trips.  Helen has many friends from her parish.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Chester John Mazurek, her son, Chester James Mazurek; her siblings, Charles Halchuck; Mary Formosa; and Margaret Kuzski.  She is survived by her daughter Hope, John Galati; two grandchildren, Luke and Lauren Petersen; and many nieces and nephews.  Helen had a great love for her dogs Winnie and Mia, whom she considered her grandchildren.

A one-hour visitation will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 9:30 – 10:30am the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan.  A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00am at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church in Marlboro.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Gabriel’s R. C. Church, 100 North Main Street, Marlboro, NJ  07746.
