Obituary of Caroline Elena Intveldt

Caroline Intveldt passed away on August 25, 2020 after a long illness.  She is mourned by her loving husband Kirk and their three children, Michael, Jack and Elena.

Caroline grew up in Roselle Park, New Jersey where she graduated from Roselle Park High School and continued her educational career at UCC and graduated with honors from Rutgers University (Cook College) with a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science.  She received the Nancy Higginson-Dorr Award for the graduating student who demonstrated the most promise in teaching science.  

Caroline began her teaching career in Union Township, NJ at Burnet Middle School.  Creative, logical and powerfully intelligent, she engaged her students by promoting critical thinking skills and expecting best practices in laboratory experiences. Caroline continued her teaching career at the high school level.  She taught in the Freehold Regional High School District, Perth Amboy School District, Middlesex High School and Monmouth Regional High School.  

Caroline’s students are forever impacted by her scientific expertise, her ability to create extraordinary lab experiences paired with thought provoking questions.  Her sense of fair play and her work ethic were translated to the students in her classes and into the general school population.

As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, educator and friend, Carolines’s energy and love were always spent on others in order to do her best for her parents, brothers, husband, children, students and friends. She was a tireless supporter of all the people in her life.  

Caroline will be sorely missed by all those she loved, her husband Kirk; her children, Michael, Jack and Elena; her brother Stephen and his wife, Barbara; her brother Glenn and his wife, Cindy, her brother Robert and his wife Jackie; her sister-in-law Denise and her husband Richard; her husbands parents William and Anntoinette Intveldt; her niece and nephews; and her dear friends. Caroline was pre-deceased by her parents, Henry and Helen Zaleski and her nephew, Stephen Zaleski.
