My dad. Miss you every minute of every day. 7 years and I still reach to call you to share good or bad news. I miss your laugh and I miss laughing until we cry. I miss you so much and wish your granddaughters had more time with you. All my love forever xoxoxox Lainie

Gene would say that " That guy chased me for a job for years". Tongue and cheek, or maybe not. Whatever it was it was a joy being his employee. There have been very few moments in my adult years that I can remember laughing until there were tears in my eyes, but either at a dinner table in Atlantic City, or driving down the road to our next sales call, Gene was the root of them .
Gene gave me advice in many aspects of my life; career, marriage, and fatherhood. In fact his biggest compliment was praising my ability to help him grow his company (Metro Chem) in front of my 6 year old little boy. He let me become a hero that day, and I will never forget it.
A great man for far too many reasons to mention. We will all surely miss him, and be better people for knowing him.

I met Gene when we were both 15. I remember lots of visits to the candy store and double dates with Gene, Bunny, Robert and me. He was always the comedian, and he kept us laughing. My sincere sympathy goes to his family and friends. We have all lost an amazing guy.

Gene and I first met when we were 14 and 15 years old. He was working in the family"s candy store across the street from Bergenfield high school where he was one year behind me.
I remember his first car he bought, a 2 seater sports car,
We hung around for years doing what teen agers do in a small town in NJ., double dating, going to the diner's late at night and eating pizza after a movie.
He was one of my closest friends in the world. Even though I live outside the country we would talk on the phone every time I would come into the US. I last spoke with Gene in June of this year and he told me he was going to spent more time in his business because it kept him busy and that he felt great.
I knew him for 58 years and I will miss him.
Chills run up my spine when I think about him

I have known Gene (warmly called Lance) for many years. He serviced our family laundry for as long as I can remember. We enjoyed many happy times when he was around. When he stopped by we enjoyed much laughter over lunch. I am honored to have known such a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I have know Gene for 12 years now. He taught me so much about the laundry industry. Most of all he taught me about responsibility. He told me "Being responsible is not something you become, it is who you are". I have this on my wall at work and it will always be a reminder of Gene. My heart goes out to the family and I pray to God that he touches each one of you and lifts the burden in your heart by his passing.

We have so many wonderful memories with you ,Gene. We'll never forget all our fun barbequing in Pa. Long beach Island and Marco Island. You taught us how to fish properly even though you always caught the biggest fish. We did many years of biking and always had lots of laughs all the time. You even named our boat in Marco. We will never forget our years with you, Gene and we'll miss you forever. Love you, Lucille and Dan

I have so many stories of Gene and I all happy times. I was the owner of a laundry and the first time I met Gene he came into my plant with a fellow I knew was retiring, Mattie Robinson and was introduced to Gene Blumenthal, after about a half hour of "Getting to know you" when he was leaving he said "you would remember me if my name was "Lance Sterling" and from that day on he was known to me and my family as Lance Sterling.
I remember a time when he visited the plant and we kept him busy and I told the maintenance guys to take all the wheels off his car while I kept him busy talking. We had a great laugh over that for a long time and every time he visited from then on he would check his car out the window every few minutes.
When Gene started his own company he asked if I would consider buying from him and without hesitation I said of course I remember that was the first time in my life I can remember hugging another GUY with tears in both our eyes.
At a laundry convention in New Orleans Gene invited my family to dinner and we all accepted (all 6 of us) and when the bill came he handed them his credit card and they said "Cash only" and he was shocked so he asked if we had some cash to help him and we did and laughed about that for many years.
I don't remember the occasion but we were having dinner and Gene was seated next to me and we talked and then Gene said there is a hair sticking out of your ear and he attempted to pull it and told him it was my new hearing aid leave it be, we laughed many times over that.
My whole family knew and loved Gene but he has a special spot in my mind and heart that can never be replaced.

I was hired by Gene at Metro-Chem this past June. Though I had only met him twice, he came across as a warm and special person. My only regret is that I did not have an opportunity to work longer for him. He will be greatly missed by everyone he came in touch with. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I wish them a long life.

To Gene's family and friends Gene was no only a business associate, he is/was my friend. Gene offered me extraordinary support when I first opened my biz in 1996...and...I remember what Gene said to me..he said: Ron, what I am offering you is a bad business decision for myself, however under the circumstances and based on your needs, I consider it the right thing to do" I will never forget Gene, and his friendship...and I share my respect for Gene...with you...I loved that Guy!
