Obituary of Michel Gouin
Please share a memory of Michel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michel Gouin entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Pine Brook Nursing Facility in Englishtown, New Jersey. He was born in Haiti on August 28, 1936 to the late Erese Montperouse and Dale Gouin. He was the youngest of two children. Michel lived in Brooklyn, NY, East Orange, NJ, Piscataway, NJ and Manalapan NJ.
Michel was a chef at the Brasserie Restaurant in Manhattan NY for over 20 years. After he ended his career as a chef, he worked as a clerk for GMC in Manhattan where he retired at the age of 62.
Michel was a very fun loving and charitable man. He was so full of life and focused on all its goodness, always encouraging his children and those around him to do the same. He was a man of deep faith and lived to please his family and his wife Bernadette. He liked the beach and being outdoors.
Over the course of his life he helped many people who were going through tough financial times or were in need of some assistance; often allowing them to stay at his home until they could get back on their feet. He also loved animals. He was known for taking in many stray dogs and cats over the years. He was a very giving man. He was a great husband, loving grandfather, father and friend.
Michel’s generosity, kind heart, warm spirit, giant smile and infectious laugh, were an inspiration to his family, friends and community. He lived his life with integrity and was so loved by all whom he met. He will be remembered with much love, respect and affection.
He leaves behind his Wife of 50 years, Bernadette Gouin; Daughters Marie Campbell and Beatrice Wilson; Granddaughters Kiana and Autumn Campbell; Grandsons Daniel Stokes and Jordyn Adegun and a Sister, Jeannine Toussaint.
This is indeed a sad day for all of us. We have lost such a great person.
