Obituary of John F. Volz sr

John F. Volz, Sr., 80, of Manalapan, passed away on June 6, 2014 at Pine Brook Care Center, Manalapan. Born in Manhattan, he lived in the Bronx from 1934 to 1967 before moving to Manalapan. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Korean War veteran. John attended the University of Wisconsin with a full scholarship for boxing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed coaching in the Manalapan Recreation Football League. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Katherine Volz; his siblings, June and Frank; and granddaughter, Erin. John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; five children and their spouses, Donna and Charles Dery of Manalapan, John Volz and Robin Cooley of Washington State, Karen and Francis Carella of Hamilton, Denise Dubuss of Manalapan and Christopher and Yvette Volz of Hoboken; and eight grandchildren, Patrick, Sean, Kate, Christine, Megan, Katherine, Emily and Victoria. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manalapan on Wednesday, June 11th, at 11:00 AM.
