Bill was responsible for me starting in internet radio.
I used to DJ in a chatroom and one evening I receive a personal message from Bill asking if I would be interested in joining his radio station which was named after his Dog Scooty and was known as Radio Scooter International.
We chatted for a long while and I pretty soon realised that Bill had the same crazy personality as me and we hit it off as friends there and then.
On one of our visits to friends in Cleveland I flew up to Philadelphia and I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with Bill and his Mom & Dad and we did two radio shows together and boy it was hilarious.
We hadn't rehearsed anything it was purely just us two and the airways and a lot of friends listening in the chatrooms and it was truly memorable.
Bill was a naturally funny guy who suffered badly with diabetes but his energy and enthusiasm for life was just awesome.
I still have him on my Facebook page & I also have the radio station co-ordinates in my PC and they will always be there as a reminder of Bill and its hard to beleive that a year has passed already.
I sit and wonder if they have internet radio in heaven because if they have I can just imagine Bill telling his crazy jokes and anecdotes to the people there and hopefully we can team up again someday.
Miss you Bill

I first met Bill in the 70s in a NYC area group that hosted get-togethers for DXers. One of them
was at his old house on Marble Street in Staten Island. As adults we wound up living about ten miles apart in Monmouth County NJ and continued to share "DX TIPS"
Most recently we connected thru his Radio Scooter International, where on occasion I'd listen and join
the chat and it was nice to share some old memories with others. As we are about the same age, it is a shock to hear that he is gone. My condolences to his friends and family.

Dear friends and family of Bill. I'm sad about what happened recently. I knew Bill as a eager music and radio aficionado. May we all carry on with the desire to realize our dreams as Bill has done with his radio station. R.I.P Bill. -Shawn K, New Renegade Radio

Like Dan, I knew Bill through radio. Bill helped us each year with the Winter SWL Fest, a hobby-based "family reunion" gathering. Bill took on the task each year of contacting radio stations and requesting schdule information and other promotional items that we would then give away during the Fest. The task took persistence, especially recently, as broadcasters cut back on the production of printed information and became less interested in providing pens and other items.
Bill was an ardent believer in the craft of radio -- that radio, as a medium, was special and ought to be preserved. Bill personally connected with broadcasters and took offense when they stopped using shortwave radio to reach their audience.
Bill's enthusiasm was contagious, and I always looked forward to catching up with Bill at the Fest and having many animated discussions about the future direction of radio and the onslaught of new technologies.
That enthusiasm carried over into his love of hockey, specifically, and his love of New Jersey. Bill certainly was never lukewarm on any subject -- passionate in his likes and his dislikes!
He will be missed.

For those that don't know me my name is Frank and I live in the UK & I wish I could have been there to say goodbye in person.
I met Bill through a chatroom site that I was playing music in and we got on well right from the start and before I knew it I was a regular DJ on Bills station " Radio Scooter International".
We had a great time and never stopped laughing and in 2008 I was at friends in Cleveland Ohio & arranged to fly up to NJ for the weekend and we both appeared on each others shows which were such good fun and absolute chaos.
Bill's Mum and Dad made me very welcome and we got on really well.
Bill was a really good friend and I will miss him and his crazy jokes immensely.
Perhaps he will get a job on Heaven FM and I bet he will be playing a lot of one liners from his hero's the Marx Brothers.
Sleep peacefully my friend and may god bless you and your family & I pray that we will meet again someday - Goodbye
Frank

I knew Bill for a number of years because of our mutual interest in radio. At one time Bill was from Staten Island, as was I. We both liked listening to the shortwave bands and were both radio amateurs. I used to converse with Bill regularly in a shortwave radio group on internet relay chat. We got together in person a few times at an annual radio event in Pennsylvania, kind of a hobby family reunion. I remember talking to him when he was planning his online radio station and generously offered me an opportunity to get involved. I also remember the year he won the grand prize of a very nice receiver at the annual raffle at the event. He was very happy that night!
I knew Bill as a great guy who loved his family, his friends and his many interests. I knew him as a religious man as well and know that he is now at rest with his creator and those he loved who went before him.
73 Bill, those whose lives you touched will long remember you.

There are some people who come into your life that are just extra special. Time goes by and you may be separated by just life sending you both in a different direction. A day comes and you reunite and that friendship that you have just ignites like a blazing fire of warmth and comfort. You are back with a long lost friend who was never lost just occupied as you were. These friendships are few and far between. Well, my friend, Bill Bergadano this is US. We reunited back at the Country Club Diner and have since been laughing and contacting each other and chatting and it has been just a bunch of fun and lots of laughs as we were in childhood. I said "I missed you" as my pal and meant it awhile back and you laughed that I only wanted to copy you test papers. LOL. I had to remind you schools out and you laughed too. We talked up a storm, you made some Friday nites extra special in my house with your music and your character. Everyone knows how I adore your sarcasim. by you play "Felix the Cat" for me for my Birthday and of course many more funny ones. Well, God has separated us once more. I am saddened so much by your recent heart attack and more sad by the outcome. I don't know why things happen the way they do. But I do know this "YOU ARE MY FRIEND FOREVER", I am missing you already, your music is playing in my mind as I write this. I am hoping for a miracle but knowing I may not get it. To anyone who knows Bill you know that he brings joy to life. I won't have my Jet fan to argue with anymore over who gets picked and why...I won't have Friday nite parties on Radioschooterinternational anymore to chat long distance online with Bill and Company. I won't have our telephone conversations that are so lengthy he tells his Mom "It's only Veronica" and it's all ok. Bill, my friend, I won't have you in my life and I am surely gona miss you. I just keep hoping something wonderful happens and you come back... —

The best part of the radio hobby is all of the wonderful people you get to become acquainted to. Some even becoming good friends, no matter how far away they may be. I first met Bill as a co-writer/editor during my time with the Miami Valley DX Association. Then I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with Bill in person many times over the years at the Winter SWL Fest. Bill was a kind, gentle and passionate soul. I am lucky that our paths were able to connect in this world. My life is richer for knowing him. Rest now my friend and Godspeed. May the DX always be active for you.
