Sal was one of the quite senior bus operators in Staten Island when I arrived in 1979 and was both a friend and mentor to me. Many of the older drivers thought my ideas were far out but Sal had great vision and guts.
He was supportive and often gave sound advice. Always straightforward with me. He was a smart and mature voice in a frequently chaotic place.
He is missed.
