Obituary of Catherine Gangemi

Catherine Gangemi, 87, of Jackson, died after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. She was born March 16, 1925 in Jersey City, the daughter of John and Josephine (D'Amato) Janelli. Catherine graduated from Lincoln High School and worked for the Janelli Carpet Company in NYC and Utility Brass and Copper in Moonachie. She married Bruno, the love of her life, and they lived in Jersey City before moving to Hasbrouck Heights where they raised their children and she was active in numerous community organizations including the Board of Education, before they settled in Marlboro. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Marlboro. After Bruno died in August 2012, Catherine moved to The Orchards at Bartley in Jackson. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruno; brothers, Mike, Frank and John; and sister, Marie. She is survived by her three children, Rick (Christine) of Loudonville, NY, Nancy (Bob) Morone of Howell, and Tom (Elaine) of Pembroke Pines, FL; six grandchildren, Bob, Ryan (Leslie), Jacky (Scott) Askew, Becky Morone (fiance' Joe), Melissa and April; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit today from 3 to 7 PM at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro. Entombment will follow at the parish mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
