Obituary of George W. Signoriello

George W. Signoriello Sr., 90, of Manalapan N.J., and formerly from New Brighton, Staten Island, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Born on Staten Island, he was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle. He was retired from the NYC Highway Dept., where he worked as a District Foreman. When he moved to Manalapan, he went to work for the Marlboro School District, and later retired from there. Mr. Signoriello was very active in NYC politics when he lived on Staten Island, and especially with the Regular Democratic party on SI. He was a member of the Dem. County Committee for many years. When he moved to NJ, he joined the Republican Party, and became very active in NJ Politics. He was a Veteran of World War II, and served with the US Army Airborne in Africa and Sicily. Mr. Signoriello was a very patriotic man who loved his country and loved his family. It was in Sicily that he met and married his wife of 59 years, the former Alba Pistorio who passed away in 2003. Mr. Signoriello is survived by his children, Antonia Westgate, Josephine Crain , Mary Megna, Frank and Vincent Signoriello, Fannie F. Eison and George Signoriello; his 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and his companion, Theresa Stringer. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home , 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 AM, at Monmouth Worship Center , 37 Vanderburg Road, Marlboro, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
