Obituary of Raymond J Bishof jr

Raymond J Bishof, Jr. 89, of Marlboro passed away on September 9, 2018 at Roosevelt Care Center in Old Bridge. Born in Newark, NJ, to Raymond, Sr. and Estelle; he married his wife Joan at St. Peter's RC Church on October 23, 1953. Raymond was a Master Sergeant in the US National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
He was a Newark firefigher, who rose to the rank of Battalion Chief during his 30 year career; serving as Chief of the Arson Squad for the last 13 years of his career. Upon retirement from the fire department, Raymond partnered with, and eventually owned, Shepherd Security Services, Inc. - a very successful private detective agency, specializing in fire scene investigations. He was a past member of several professional associations, including the International Association of Arson Investigators, National Fire Protection Association, Fire Marshals' Association of North America, and Fire Officers Association.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Joan in 1996. He is survived by his sons Raymond Bishof III of Naples, Florida, Edward Bishof, Sr. and his wife, Debbie of Freehold; two loving grandsons, Edward and James, and a granddaughter, Karyn.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan on Wednesday, September 12 from 4 to 8 PM. There will be a Funeral Liturgy on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro; followed by entombment at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers NJ, 425 Eagle Rock Ave. # 203, Roseland, NJ 07068 or www.alznj.org.
