Obituary of Joseph Robert Walter

Joseph R. Walter, 82, formerly of Manalapan, passed away Tuesday, August 28, at Millennium Memory Care Center in Monroe. Born in Queens, New York, Joseph resided on Long Island before moving to Manalapan in 1965 and raised his family on Stratford Drive. He was involved in local politics and served on the Manalapan Planning Board for many years. He also was a member of the Yorktowne Social Club where lifelong friends and good times were made. He worked for the New York Telephone Company for 35 years and upon early retirement, continued to work in the telecom field. He and his wife eventually relocated to Bonita Springs, Fla., where his love and passion for planes landed him a position with the TSA at Regional Southwest Airport in Fort Myers, Fla. Joseph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret; daughter Linda and her husband Randy, daughter Debbie and her husband Joe; brother-in-law Earl Ewing; grandchildren Jennifer, Kristin, Kelly and Jillian and five great grandchildren Luke, Bradley, Natalie, Ethan and Carter. Friends and family are invited to visit Tuesday Sept. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan.
