Obituary of Rita M. Carten

Rita Carten, 84, of Freehold, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at The Manor in Freehold. Born in Jersey City, Rita moved to Freehold in 2000. Prior to her retirement, she was a bookkeeper at St. Mary's Church in Jersey City for 26 years. Rita was predeceased by her parents Michael and Ellen McNamara; her husband Robert; her sisters Helen Hughes and Dorothy Boyle; and brothers John (Gloria) and Michael McNamara. She is survived by her children Mary Ellen (Danny) Sullivan, Bob (Kevin) Carten, Maggie (Patrick) Keating, Rita Curran, Kathy (Colm) McAuley, Jim (Tami) Carten, and Sean (Frances) Carten; twelve grandchildren; sister in law Alma McNamara and extended family & friends. Family and friends are invited to gather at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 E. Main Street, Freehold on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Michael's Church, Jersey City on Tuesday at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
