Obituary of John Martin Avento

John M. Avento, 72, of Freehold, passed away on May 23, 2012. He grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ and moved to Warminster, PA, before settling in Freehold over 30 years ago. John graduated from Holy Cross University in 1961 with a degree in chemical engineering and earned a masters in chemistry. He was an executive for many years with various chemical companies including Rohm and Haas, M & T Chemicals, and Atochem North America. He traveled extensively throughout the country but he always made the time to coach his kids' sports teams. He was an avid golfer and huge sports fan of the Phillies, Flyers and Eagles. John was predeceased by his wife, Sandy, a year ago. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Cheryl and Scott Matthews of Tinton Falls, Debi Avento of Freehold, John Avento of Oakland, California, and Michael and Signe Avento of Howell; his siblings, Joseph and Connie Avento of Bristol, TN, and Grace Avento-Tarascavage and Glenn Tarascavage of Lyndhurst, NJ; six grandchildren Corianne, Taylor, Kelsey, Kristina, Isobel, and Colin; and his nieces and nephews Sara, Joe, Diane, and Bob. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 29th, from 4:00 PM until the funeral service at 6:30 PM, at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. Interment will be private. .
