Please accept my deepest sympathy on the oh too soon passing your your Jonathan. Just a few minutes ago I read his obituary and it is shocking news. Jonathan was always such a good hearted person. I remember our Christmas Eves spent together we would go looking for Santa on the firetruck but we only had one bike to use so Jon would let me use it and he would walk or run. We only found Santa a few years out of many, but it was still so much fun to be out and about on Christmas Eve with him. Jon and I recently made a nickname up. Like an inside joke. I was texting him one day and accidentally wrote COCO instead of XOXO and ever since then we call each other COCOOOOO love you Jon xoxo

No matter what he was going thru, Jonathan would always have that warm, beautiful smile on his face. Needles, test after test, he remained strong and determined. And while I really thought all the food I cooked for him made him smile, the biggest smile I got was the day I brought him this Happy Meal. And much to our surprise, Sponge Bob Karate was inside, making him smile even more. Keep smiling, Jonathan Novotny, and shine your beautiful light upon us from the heavens above. This picture is as if Jonathan is telling us that he is doing just fine. His kindness and appreciation has moved on to a bigger and better place. This is how he was throughout his entire life. Even in the hospital, he always said "thank you" and gave a thumbs-up to the nurses and staff as he received difficult treatments and procedures. Jonathan, you are a hero to us all...a true gentleman.

From the time we were little, Jonathan was our leader. There were thirteen of us, and Jon wasn't even the oldest, but we followed him around like dogs on a leash. And even though he was a year older than me, I was fiercely protective of him. Many times, I tried to justify it, saying to myself, "I'd do it for any of my cousins," but in all honesty, there was something special about Jon and I always felt the need to take care of him. He had such a good heart and a beautiful soul. I feel so blessed to have known somebody like him. He's a one-in-a-million kind of person and I love him with all of my heart. Sure, we got on each other's nerves every once in a while, but we never fought or got angry at each other. We had so many conversations about anything and everything. He always had an answer to my questions. Over the past few months, while he was in the hospital, we spent a lot of time talking. He truly became my best friend. I told him everything. He was so sweet and patient, just listening to me and giving me his input or advice. I looked forward to hearing from him. I especially loved his wit. He always had an off-the-cuff remark that would crack me up. Thank you, Jamishman, for being who you were, for taking care of me when I needed you, for not minding when I got overprotective, and for letting me hug you, even when you didn't really want to be hugged. You will forever be in my heart. You are my angel.

When Jon was 3 years old I asked him what he wanted for his birthday. After thinking for just a minute or two he said "Uncle Nick I would like crackers, juice, chips and eyeballs." Every year since I gave Jon a package with those items and he would smile everytime he opened them eventhough he knew what they were.
I will never forget Jon's smile (which maybe why he liked "Smileys"), his kind heart and easy going nature. He was a very special person who was taken from all of us way to soon but we have to consider ouselves very blessed for having him in our lives.
I know that he will keep an "watchful eye" on all of us and Smile down for heaven.

I always loved Jon's easy smile when he was having fun at a family gathering, but I also loved his impish smirk when he was plotting something devilish. His Aunt Luisa especially loved that side of his personality! He was never rude or cruel, but he loved to tweak his cousins or his parents to get a rise out of them. From my aspect, he was always polite and respectful to the adults in his life. Even through these last several months when he didn't feel well or even felt downright miserable, he was always nice to us. He made others at ease when they visited him in the hospital, that's just who he was. We are all going to miss him terribly, but we are also happy we had him in our lives, if only for too short of a time.

One of my favorite Jonathan stories was from Angela's graduation party in 2011. I asked Jon to pretend to be a reporter and interview Angela as if she was a movie star as soon as she arrived at the party. Of course, he readily agreed and grabbed the microphone ran up to her and in a professional voice asked her "did you go to the bathroom before you left the house today?"
Jon was the middle child, just like me, I think that's why Carmela and George asked me to be his Godmother. Jon understood that being a middle child makes you special in that half of you has to be good and the other half has to be naughty in order to get a good laugh. Jon had a great sense of humor and didn't have to work hard at being funny. Make them laugh up there Jon, I know you will do a great job. Love, Aunt Luisa

I am so very sorry to hear of Jonathan's passing. I honestly don't know what to say...Life is really not fair. Jonathan was such a special young man. His quiet strength and bravery throughout this horrible disease was amazing. He tried to smile through it all...he did everything to fight this disease and he will always be a warrior to me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, especially his loving Mother, who never left his side. May God give you faith, strength and comfort during these difficult times.
