Obituary of Joseph Stephen Furchak jr

Joseph Stephen Furchak, Jr., 78, of Bayville passed away August 30 in Bayshore Community Hospital. Joseph was born the Spring of 1939 in Brooklyn and lived in Greenpoint through his teen years. He married Clementine Pechinski and shortly lived in Queens before making the jump to rural Manalapan NJ in 1966. Upon retiring at the early age of 51 Joe and Tina spent their retirement years in Bayville. Joe worked for the New York Telephone Company, starting as a splicer's helper at the age of 17, retiring as a district manager of the Wall Street branch. Upon retirement Joe enjoyed working for the Berkley Township School District as a bus driver. Travel was one of Joe's favorite pastimes and was fortunate for the opportunity to see much of the world. He had a lust for life and enjoyed meeting and getting to know people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. He and Tina enjoyed frequenting Atlantic City and putting in many miles walking the Englishtown Auction. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ethel (Dursh); and his brother-in-law Danny Driscoll. He is survived by his wife, Clementine (Pechinski); his children Theresa (George) Shackil of Southampton; Joseph III (Deborah) of Manalapan, and Janine Tempone of Freehold; six grandchildren; his brother Richard (Patricia) of Midwest City, OK; his sister Lana Driscoll of Hicksville, NY; and sister-in-law Frances (Thomas) Hopps.
