The Filion family and loved ones of Herve have my deepest sympathy. Our loving heavenly Father, Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) promises us at Revelations 21: 4; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." Isaiah 33:24 guarantees us: "And no resident will say "I am sick," ever again. Jehovah invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Psalms 34:18 The family is in my prayers and I offer my heartfelt condolences.

Herve was the best driver ever in Harness Racing, period. He drove many of my fathers horses to win. He was the nicest, kindest, always happy, and most generous soul in Harness Racing. My sincere condolences to the family.

I was a freshman in college when my love of harness racing began. I was just 18 years old and Herve was almost still a kid at 24. He was pure magic and a major force in my zest for the game and my endless trips to Liberty Bell Park and Brandywine Raceway to watch The Master exhibit greatness in the bike. He surely will be missed. Condolences and prayers to all his family and friends.

I met Herve Filion at Freehold Raceway in 1990. My good friend Jack E. Lee had just been rehired at Freehold and I was in the announcer's booth and Herve had just won the race that Jack had called. He said he had not had a chance to talk to Herve since he was rehired. I offered to go downstairs to the winner's circle to give Herve the message. He was very kind and considerate and a joy to be around.
As far as I am concerned he was the most outstanding driver in harness racing history. He was an artist on the track. He would paint a picture of how he wanted the race to go and waited for other drivers to make mistakes. It was thrilling to watch him drive.
Condolences to his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. Condolences to harness racing fans too. The death of Herve Filion is to harness racing what the death of Babe Ruth was to baseball, the death of Arnold Palmer was to golf, the death of Marlon Brando and Lawrence Olivier was to acting, and so on. I hope his family knows that while it is a tremendous loss for them it is also for the people who love harness racing and respect the game. Knowing this, I hope that it brings comfort to his family.
