Obituary of William E Smith

William E. Smith, 70, a lifelong resident of Freehold, died on January 29th. Bill was a graduate of Freehold Boro H.S. and served in the US Army from 1966-1968. He worked for JCP&L for 37 years, and was very active in his union, local 1289. In his younger days Bill enjoyed hunting with his dad and brothers. He also loved golfing with his friends every Sunday. Bill had a passion for horse racing, and also loved Atlantic City. When his children were younger, Bill dedicated his time to coaching their baseball and soccer teams. Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Agnes, along with his son Stephen and daughter-in-law Sharon of New Orleans, LA; his daughter Tracy of Long Branch, NJ; and his grandson Kyle and his wife Calli. He is predeceased by his parents Floyd and Mary Smith, his sister Elaine, and his brothers Thomas and Robert Smith. He is survived by his brothers Frederick and James Smith, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather at Freeman Funeral Home in Freehold on Thursday February 2 from 4-8 pm. There will be a funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Friday February 3 at 10 am, followed by burial at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
