Obituary of Stephen R. Dempsey

Stephen R. Dempsey, 83, of Manalapan, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at his residence. He was born and raised in Jersey City and formerly resided in Cliffwood Beach and Toms River before moving to Manalapan. Stephen served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a teacher for the Matawan Board of Education for over 30 years before retiring. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara in 2002 and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen & Shannon Dempsey; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara & Gary Burns, Susan Dempsey; his brother, Hugh Dempsey; six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 17th, from 1 to 5 pm at Freeman Manalapan- Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:45 am at St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
