Obituary of Marcia Sue Shaftan

Please share a memory of Marcia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marcia Sue Shaftan, 78, of Freehold Township, New Jersey, passed away on October 24, 2015 at home of natural causes. She was born July 17, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to William and Betty Goldgeier. She has one sister, Sondra Rosen, known as Bobby. Marcia was married to Robert Shaftan in June 1960, having met at work at an accounting firm. They had two children, Hilary (adopted in 1966) and Kevin (born in 1970.) Robert passed away in 1986, and Hillary passed away in 1996. Marcia was known for her love of fashion and accessories like shoes and jewelry, and especially handbags. She also enjoyed traveling with her family. She was vivacious, energetic, and very funny. Although only five feet tall, she always lit up the room wherever she went. With her son Kevin's (mostly) patient help, she was a whiz at text messaging her loved ones on her iPad. She is survived by her adoring son, Kevin Shaftan of Brooklyn, New York and her loving sister, Sondra Rosen of Long Island, New York. She will also live on in the memories of her extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 27th at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Marcia's family and friends will gather together at her home after the service. Her son Kevin will mourn her at home in Brooklyn. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan.
